USS Fresno (CL-121) was a Cleveland-class light cruiser that served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1971. The ship was named after the city of Fresno, California and was commissioned on 27 April 1945. The Fresno saw service in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was also involved in numerous peacetime operations, including patrols and training exercises.
During the Korean War, the Fresno provided fire support for ground troops and conducted patrols and reconnaissance missions off the Korean coast. The ship earned two battle stars for her service in this conflict. In the Vietnam War, the Fresno was primarily involved in providing naval gunfire support for ground forces.
After three decades of service, the USS Fresno was decommissioned on 31 January 1971 and was struck from the naval register the following year. She was eventually sold for scrap in 1973.
